Trading Strategies for July 18th: As expected today stock market opened higher because of ECB's fine tuning operation and this year market has rallied or open higher on Tuesday because of this operation. Tomorrow, Market is expected to open lower after it closed in the bearish zone. CBOE volatility index Vix is back to all time low at 16.48, that too when the fear of Global slowdown and Euro zone debt crisis is haunting everyday.
I think it's safe to buy volatility stock here even though, it is still in contango but it can played on daily basis. VXX is at $ 12.70, TVIX is at 3.21 and UVXY is at $6.77
I am not a fan of any velocity shares issued by Credit Suisse which I think is fundamentally flawed and doesn't perform as it should and if possible avoid such stock.
US dollar Index (UUP) is at 83, which is pretty high, any weakness in this will be good sign for metal stocks like MT, X, AA, GLD, SLV. Euro is at 1.229 and has maximum short position. If there is any good news, in Euro, it can easily break 1.25, so keep FXE in your watchlist.
For bullish sentiment to continue, Dow needs to break 12,841, and S&P500 needs to break 1365.
